She had high myopia and had used contact lenses for many years. Her myopia had progressed further because of nuclear cataracts. She does computer work, so we targeted 40 cm for near, and by combining the results of several intraocular lens power formulas we achieved the focal distance as targeted. She says she is satisfied with life without glasses after surgery.

Patient questionnaire

Answers translated from Japanese.

What was your condition before surgery?

Lights and the like were dazzling; I couldn't see well.

What led you to have surgery?

My vision had dropped.

Which did you choose, a multifocal lens or a monofocal lens?

Multifocal lenses, because I thought I'd see far and near and not need glasses.
