She was at risk of an acute glaucoma attack as her cataracts progressed, and her zonules were weak, but we inserted a capsular tension ring and completed the surgery without problems. After discussing it beforehand, we chose lens powers that, given her age and for safety, let her see things around her to some extent even without glasses, and she was satisfied. Cataract surgery also eliminated the risk of an acute glaucoma attack.

Patient questionnaire

Answers translated from Japanese.

What was your condition before surgery?

The TV looked hazy and was hard to see.

What led you to have surgery?

My daughter recommended it.

Which did you choose, a multifocal lens or a monofocal lens?

Being elderly and hardly reading, I just wanted to see the TV, so monofocal lenses.
